TATAMI Japanese Restaurant

About a month ago a new Japanese Restaurant opened in Kuwait "tatami" located right in the heart of Kuwait at Sharq exactly opposite Cadillac showroom.

When we first arrived we didnt have any reservations, my friend went in to get us a table it was packed and no tables were available the host told us that there will be a table available within 10-15 minutes and asked us if we dont mind waiting so we decided to wait outside while the table was being prepared which was completed within the time the host mentioned which was quite pleasant.

As soon as you walk in you get this relaxing vibe because of its calming colors and modern interior, the place is a little small but it gives it a cosy feeling.

The host showed us to our table and a few minutes later our waiter came and handed us the menu. It was our first time however I was a little shocked that no one asked if any of us been here before they also did go through the menu with us actually my friend asked the waiter what do you reccomend and the waiter wasnt much of a help.

There was a misunderstanding of one of the order's, my friend confused the order with something else however the chef came out and apologised and was very understanding and helpful.

The pictures above show the orders, california sesame rolls and Spicy Salmon and Naked Salmon the salmon was quite fresh however just a small thing the rolls are a little small which people seem to prefer I dont know why but then again I enjoy things bigger.

I went for lunch again to take one of my Japanese friends to try tatami and the Chef Dana AlTourah went through the menu with us this time and we went with her recommendation.

I appoligise I did not take pictures of everything however I will recommend what to tried best. 

First of all start with the Sesame Nori Chips basically crispy sea weed its one of there signatures I have never tried it any where else but I quite enjoyed.

Beef Negi Maki which was amazingly delicious OISHI !! must try.

Sushi was delicious my favorite was the ebi (shrimp) sushi, salmon sushi and the tuna sushi.

Main courses:

I enjoyed the black cod it was oishi.

The Pan-Seared Wagyu Tenderloin. 

The Lime-Glazed Salmon Steak was really delicious and must try.

Desserts:

Crispy Banana Chocolate Rolls this is light and a delightful choice.

Chocolate Truffle Molten Cake is a good choice if you left enough room.

Overall I enjoyed it and I like the Kuwaiti concept and I wish them more success.
